is it still the rear brake?

Forget BMW/Audi drivers.....The car that attracts the worst drivers is..........

MrsPP I know how you feel.
In the big freeze last year I decided I was bette roff in a metal box than bouncing off them, so I got a lift in. As we tailgated a quarry wagon (6 feet, at most) and the driver wondered aloud the the steering kept going funny (in the freezing conditions), I elected to fit my spikes and ride to work off road. It might take 90 minutes and be serious hard work compared to the road route, but at least I'm alive.

her attitude to all of this si to laugh
although it makes me sound like some old duffer in tweed (i'm in my 20's) driving as a skill has been lost somewhere. motorcyclists still (i believe in the majority) view it like this.
unfortunately for car drivers it (imo) falls into two camps the majority have passed their test and now have the full ticket, that's it. the drivers who do treat it as a skill aim to drive like a racing driver.the skill of roadcraft as a good 'road' driver is lost.

surely these attract the worst:

Don't worry, the oil will run out soon.

OK, I just need to get Bimmer to be complete. We already have Scenic and Audi in the family....

Wifes mate drives a Scenic. Large dent in the boot was where a skip reversed into it. She doesnt fit your stereotype though.
On a similar note...to the bright yellow MG ZR driver, who double parks right outside the primary school gate every day & who threw four letter abuse at the children & teachers who dared to approach to try & point out the danger of this action...
...I did chuckle as they hauled your presumably uninsured POS onto that low loader the other day on the main road. Made my day, really did. Hopefully you wont be getting it back. Many thanks & do have a crap new year.

Also any driver that adds one of those stupid exhausts on to their tiny engined crapbox of a car to make an annoying racket, sole purpose to annoy everyone else who has to suffer the din. Thinking about it, they should be named Fred exhausts
Years ago on a Japan island, walked through a tunnel and then heard this very very loud exhaust noise like a straight through exhaust on a classic racing car. Turned round and it was an 800cc Bedford Rascal flatbed with a massive exhaust doing about 40mph!

7. Sat nav placement. Leave on the windscreen, even if you know where you're going, make sure it takes up as much of your view as possible, without it actually being placed slap bang in front of you. It should only ever be placed in the glove box when parked, to prevent it being stolen.
Sat Navs should be set to an eye watering brightness level too - especially at night. Under no circumstances should you have "night mode" activated.Posted 4 months ago # -
people in y reg astras off council estates seem to have a chip on their shoulders, they can usually be seen in the outside lane on the motorway driven by thin blokes in caps. saab drivers also seem to have issues.

Good point Rich_s, I neglected to mention driving along with the interior lights on full blast too.
Plus, extra points for the number of unsecured items rolling around in footwells.

Too busy frightening dogs with his Decaying Orbit
Wondering if PP knows you refer to his arse in such a way...

It was Andy what made me do it.

Heh! Gotta love a bit of shadenfreude. I sit here cackling sometimes as people's cars are lifted onto trucks and taken away for being parked illegally. I have no sympathy; there are several signs up.
Tooundredandfifty quid to have it released! Sumat like thirty quid a day storage!!!

I'm with Binners on this one - Micra by a country mile.
Not usually driven quickly but oblivious to any other road users and a nightmare to follow.
BUT, in my opinion the biggest giveaway for a poorly driven car is nothing to do with the model and make, it's if the driver has anything hanging off the rear view mirror. The more dangly objects (or collection of fluffy toys) a car has, the worse it is generally driven.
If you are the owner of a dangly car adornment, i'm afraid, like it or not, you're a terrible driver.
Next time somebody cuts you up etc, see if you can spot one, you'll be amazed at how accurate this assessment is....

On my local death road, the A65, the main culprit is the Micra with hat on back shelf being driven at 30mph, causing the massive queue, leading to the other culprit, gang of middle-aged fat blokes on very powerful Kawasakis, going for massive overtaking moves on blind corners.
The number of decaying bouquets tucked into the dry stone walls around here suggest that the latter aren't faring too well at it.

+1 Addison Lee MPV's, especially from Heathrow into town.
And older Asian women in big new(ish) cars/SUV's.

Re the Vespa MrPP has finally gone back to his original idea and we are getting a new braided hose. He did say he was going to get it done by the 1st March as that was when the MOT was due. As to the reference to the decaying orbit I think that is quite apt!
Seriously I think that there are bad and good drivers everywhere. We can always learn something new and I think that if we had a basic re-test ie new signs, road speeds, driving in straight line, lane discipline, the actual meaning of the overtaking lane rather than just calling it a fast lane, roundabout priories say every 10-15 years the roads would be a safer place. But this won't happen as the government would lose votes and money generated.Posted 4 months ago # -

Why's their ethnicity important?
Or their age or even sex, for that matter?

You're all wrong! Nissan Micra's are the worst driven cars on the road! By a country mile! They seem incapable of traveling at more than 30mph
I had a 1 litre Micra Vibe when I was 17, it was like a mini Subaru Imprezza in my eyes.
It was like this, but red

Because as a rule, they drive like 5h1t.

Easily the Ford Focus.

Because without it we almost have a car with nobody in it.

find Nissa Almera drivers to be pretty awful myself.

Met a ninja like the one in Binners pic when I was out on the hills yesterday riding a quad with a big black gun attached to the front of it!!!!

Where do you live Trekster? I'm guessing Kabul? Or Whalley Range?

I know it's a cliche, but BMW, Audi and Merc drivers really are the worst on the roads. Audi in particular are awful.
A view that definitely has it's merits (and this from a Mercedes owner), as does the Micra option. In my opinion though the worst driven car on the roads is the Austin/Rover Metro. The fact it's still able to be driven means that it's probably owned by some old codger that only does a few hundred miles a year due to his cataracts, the fact he's too infirm to turn his head to look into his mirrors or out the side windows and so senile he's forgotten what all the contols are for.
I did once get have an old codger pull out right in front of me (close enough that only ABS saved an accident) although not driving a Metro (it was an old Nissan Bluebird I think). When I stopped him to ask WTF he thought he was doing he explained that the reason he didn't see me was because of his cataracts! He didn't think not being able to see was enough of an excuse for stopping driving (to the pub as well!) though. I reported it to the police who said they couldn't do much as his doctor felt sorry for the old chap and didn't want to sign him off as unfit to drive...

And still no mention of the dreaded Honda jazz.

I think the time of day and what day of the week are more relevant to bad driving than car make.
Sunday afternoons come to mind.Posted 4 months ago # -
I have a certain about of sympathy with old people still driving - in most cases it is the only way they can retain any independance. Clearly that guy was unsafe epicsteve, but public transport is so useless, and expectations so ingrained, it must be hard.
Not looking forward to the day that I'm going to have to stop my Dad from driving - in all likelyhood I'll only prise the keys from his cold dead hands.

Because as a rule, they drive like 5h1t.
Oh, so older Asian women drive poorly? Like, all of them?
Interested to know how you've reached such an obviously scientifically worked out conclusion...

You'd let a burd fix your car ?!

I live in Bristol. The worst cars are all of them - when driven by taxi drivers.
