Wonder what we’ll actually get. My money is on more of this brilliant sunshine.

Both agree getting warmer though – boo. 😥

We definitely don’t need any more snow! A lot of the roads still aren’t properly cleared so a bit of fresh snow on top could cause problems.

Warmer would be good! My car was showing -13C in Balerno when I left for work this morning.

Cheer up. A nice bit of melt water followed by a -15 overnight freeze should cause enough carnage to continue “working from home” till the weekend. 🙂

How bad are the roads down there just now? I am suppose to be driving to Gullane from Aberdeen tomorrow night!

Is it worth the journey or should i cancel my plans?

    Cheers

I’m in the office – in fact I’m the only one in the office as we’ve declared it closed for the last couple of days due to the snow and ice overhanging the door:

Rusty: I’ve only seen the roads on the west side of Edinburgh and there the main roads are fine (if a bit slippery in places) although some of the side roads haven’t been fully cleared yet.

I’d be launching some snow balls at that roof to try and avalanche it before it does it itself and kills someone.

It’s like concrete at the moment so throwing stuff at it wouldn’t shift it. We’ve been waiting for the building management folks to come and do something about it for a couple of days now as we don’t want the staff coming into the office until it’s sorted.

Cheers for the updates, think if the roads are driveable then i’ll be making the journey. I’ll just make sure i am prepared for a long trip.

iain if you can let me know what the roads are like to Perth as i’ve heard from Aberdeen to Dundee is ok

    Cheers

Is that 1 foot or 2-1/2 feet Edinburgh has had?

Be advised – Meggetland and Polwarth seem to me to be the most dangerous parts of road on that side of town. Still biking in and this bit is the sketchiest.

Colinton road on the whole is ok, just hard packed ice on the car tracks on the lower section and all through Polwarth. Any more snow might make this impassable.

Bonaly and Torphin v slushy and wet.

Conditions are worse in town centre bizarrely.

People seem to be driving with plenty of courtesy though which is good!

a balmy -5 in dundee this morning – pavements were worse than the roads tbh

    Rusty;
Roads to Gullane are ok with care, pavements along coast road are still under a foot or so of frozen snow, East of Aberlady on Saturday

Bring a sledge and get up on the Golf Courses 😀
ok for biking on the Greenkeepers vehicle hardpack tracks too 😉

Roads to Aberlady were clear on Sunday.

Mate at Glenshee just now – great snow apparently, not too busy either.

Thanks again for the updates coastkid and cynic if the roads are still like that round by the coast then i should be fine, however it has just started snowing again in Aberdeen.

Not heard of these things called long sticks?

Indeed I have however due to liability concerns it was decided to get someone in to sort it out rather than do it ourselves. They’ve been in now.

Not heard of these things called long sticks?

Are these in any way related to those mystical devices called “remote controls” which, while they can (apparently) change tv channels are far more difficult and less rewarding than logging on here and posting about how crap tv is?

I also don’t have a long stick and even if it did it wouldn’t fit in my car…

Was it a specialist firm of overhanging access ice removers? If not, I doubt they’d have more training than you.. but perhaps an insurance company would think so 🙂
