I have a 54 plate (original shape) one, with the stock Ford stereo (no tape, only cd), and I was wondering what the best way to connect an mp3 player would be.

I have an Alpine cd auto-changer, but most of my music is on my mp3 player now.

My 57 plate has an audio in jack in the glove box.

    Likewise on my Mondeo.

Failing that, some sort of iTrip type device?

Like Grahams says, we had an 07 and I think it had the same jack. If you phone up Ford be prepared for all kinds of different stories. If you can’t find anything or are unsure, just pop into some kind of car stereo specialist and ask them. I’m pretty sure we just a cable patched into the centre console where we plugged in an iPod. Job done.

Wouldn’t surprise me if the original shape is different though.

Original shape doesn’t have an audio jack, still got the original tape player in mine 😳
I just use headphones, they have the advantage of a built in mic for phone calls, probably not the solution your looking for though

Watching with interest – my old ’02 Volvo has a three CD changer stereo but would love to listen to my MP3 player in the car. Tried one of those Belkin radio frequency things and it’s fine for the first ten miles, then the frequency changes slightly and all you get is hiiiiisssssssssss.

Ah har… I’ve just yesterday extracted a Connect2 box from my dead 52 plate Focus. If you’ve got a CD6000 with the multi-changer compatability (doesn’t need to have the changer), then this plugs into the back and fools it into thinking your MP3 player is the CD changer. (obviously, if you’ve got a changer you lose that)

So, that’s for sale. You can buy them new pretty easily but this one will come with all the leads needed and also the special tools needed to remove the stereo. (you can do it without powering down the CD player if you’re careful so no need for the codes, but even if you don’t have ’em you can get them for free online)

Drop me an email… Too late to think about price just now 😉 andrew@blackjack.f9.co.uk
