How much of a mudfest is it at the moment? Weather on Sunday looks cool and clear, but due to rain there Saturday. Anyone been recently?

Last week. The Verderers has been sanitised and is a smooth, largely clean, gravelfest. The Freeminers has been extended and the newer bits are pretty gloopy but rideable. Didn’t ride the DH tracks but they will be like the reds, perfectly rideable due to armouring but you will get mucky. The enduro tracks, if you know where they are, will be exciting 🙂

Despite the monsoon anything that drains is quite dry. Yesterday was sunny and windy which helped. Its cold (car still frozen) and clear here which will help. Having said that it never gets unrideable .

Last Sunday off piste was the sloppiest I seen in years but its loamy so just flys off the tyres- mostly .
    Going down again Sunday 😀

On the way in to work this evening, Hereford to Coleford, the rain was biblical. In coleford it wasn’t rain, but it had been earlier, same storm I think.

I predict “moist” as the term of the day.

Rode there last week in the heavy rain. It was great fun. The DH trails were slippy and a few puddles but it didnt really matter.

After lunch we had rain heavy enough to swamp the windscreen wipes. This turned into hail. Not raining as I speak.

What else is there round the FOD area apart from the stuff mentioned above? There don’t seem to be many bridleways marked on the map. What’s the attitude towards poking off down forestry roads trying to link stuff up?

all the best stuff is off piste – nothing to see here, move along

Montgomery FoD is ram-packed full of off-piste quality single track, the trail centre stuff is the tip of the iceberg. Finding it all and linking it up is the hard bit

They were the worse bits. Found some new trails. In the rain. Be great when it dries out. Feels like that might be some way away 😉

Some areas have now been taken of strava now so wont upset the people that did that and say where that is.Theres tons of stuff in there that’s the skill with the Forest is linking them up with quality trails.
New stuff is being built all the time Dowies 5 has been extended.Been riding down there for 25 years great place. But so great at present in less you like tons of mud like ALEX 😀
