Thinking of getting wood flooring. Based in what I’ve read here the preferred option is engineered.

What’s the ideal surface layer thickness? Is 4 mm enough if treated well or should I spend more and get thicker?

Planning on an oil based finish if that matters.

Also, are there any other options to ripping the skirting off? I really don’t want to use beading.

    Thx 🙂

Undercutting the skirting in situ is your other option

do a proper job and take the skirtings off. Thicker is better if you can afford it

thats not to say 4mm wont be good enough though. Depends on the quality of the wood / product

How hard is it to get skirting off on plasterboard walls? (15 year old house).

It’ll be oak, probably herringbone style.

Depends if screwed or nailed. You could make a mess of plasterboard if you dont use a bit of wood behind the crow bar
