Is the RP3 really worth £88 more (new frame) over the float option?

Depends on the frame.

The on/off option on the rpX (had various) on my single pivot prophet was great, made a big difference on long climbs. However on my shorter travel, linkage trance I never use it – a properly tuned float would be as good.

you wouldnt need it at all on a trance, but i would definatly want it on an orange 5 (for instance)

Ha I nearly made a post earlier about whether i’d be wanting to upgrade from RP2 to RP23 on a new 08 trance frame I’d be getting…

new 08 trance frame with rp2 shock for £500 posted, just trying to justify it.

standard float on my meta, with a factory set medium propedal. no bobbing that I can notice.
