There’s been a few threads on here recently with people asking for first time wheel building advice, how did you do?

My Mavic Open Sports on Surley hubs have done OK. The lacing was the hardest bit surprisingly, the instructions I had were a bit hard to follow which ended up with the valve hole not between the parallel spokes. Sheldon Brown saw me right in the end. Doubtless a regular could have got them a bit truer, (the rims were a little egg shaped to begin with) in a shorter time frame, but I’m not put off and already planning my second set.

Good effort ,just built my fourth wheel and probably easiest yet.
Got a older wheel to rebuild with new spokes next hoping the rims in good shape to make life easier.
