Went out for my usual ‘long’ version of my local trails yesterday. It’s not a particularly hilly or demanding area. But it is one of those rides that eggs you on a bit to keep the power down and the speed up.

Noticed quite early on that I felt about 10-15% down on everything – power, endurance and even skill (or being active enough on the bike). Sure enough, about 15 miles in and there’s not much more to give. I suspected the beginnings of a cold, but preferred to bury my head in the sand. Surer still, wake up this morning with sore throat, thick head and blocked nose. Bugger.

Still, on the positive side, since taking up MTBing (6 years ago), I definitely do not get the same number or severity of colds that I used to as my fitness has improved greatly.

It has just made me even more eager to get out properly next weekend.

Same her, except the the ride bit. Had to go into that London on the tube on Wednesday. They might as well do a special on Beechams powder when you buy the ticket
