So as the end of the year approaches which ride kicked it off and which one finished it off?

Had to wait until the 3rd and it was a very soggy and sloppy Eastridge

Running away before it got too dark and grins all round.

12 months later and it was a dry dusty and sweaty roll round some of the local trials

    Quite a contrast

First ride of the year was a Monday Night Pub Ride from Prestwich on 5th January which I can’t specifically remember but I titled it “The Somme Ride” on Strava so you get the idea.

My last “real” ride of the year was on 29th December. A 47 mile road ride from Manchester to West Kirby on the Wirral to see the in-laws. I haven’t actually ridden my mountain bike since October and have stuck to road, cx and a LOT of Turbo due to the appalling weather over the past two months.

First ride was a route I made called “Hell of the Wath” which is set in the North Yorkshire Moors, fitting since the previous day was a belly full of food/family chaos.
Last, well today I’ve got planned 101k of sublime Hampshire lanes hack. Starting and finishing from home on the coast, heads up over the South Downs and criss crosses them for the majority of the ride returning to the salty sea.
A fitting end to the year for me.
