Firex crank, Hope BB with truvativ spacer & Inbred frame.

I have put one spacer on either side.

When I try and tighten the cups I still have a gap.

What daft thing have I done now?

Frame threads shorter than cup threads? New cups narrower than old cups?

Just measured Hope BB running Xt cranks (2 spacers on drive and 1 on non drive) and it is 4mm narrower on non drive and 2mm narrower on drive (both including spacers) than the truvative BB running firex cranks on the wife’s bike.

Does this help? Don’t know if Hope BB for truvative is different width to hope BB for shimano though.

Are you using a chain guide? Why only one spacer in the drive-side? It’s a 68mm BB, I presume?

    No, no chainguide.

I had it in my head that Truvativ cranks only use one spacer on the drive side?

the truvativ gxp bb only use 1 or no spacers but seeing as its a hope bb it might throw all that out the window. try using 2 spacers drive side and 1 on the non drive side.

That would make sense, thanks one and all

if there is a gap between the crank arm and the BB then this is normal on a GXP set up as the drive side bearing is nor preloaded.
