    Hi,

Further to my recent question about a dodgy witness

    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/tracing-dodgy-witness-for-insurance-claim

I have found a company that seems to be run by my dodgy witness. He is listed as CEO/Owner/Proprietor on a couple of websites such as http://www.manta.com and http://www.amee.com

However, on all other company sites including Company House he is not listed at all on the company documents.

So how did the two websites above have him down as an owner?
Is there a difference between an owner and a director?

    Cheers!

    Simple answer – yes.
Directors and shareholders (owners) can, and often are, completely separate.
The Directors are responsible for the running of the company and maximising the profits for the shareholders.
So he can own them and have people run them for him.
He will take dividends to receive and monies whereas the Directors will salaried.
Directors names are in the public domain, shareholders are generally not.

Not helpful I know but at least it explains why he may not appear on the official documentation.

Think you can get a list of share holders for a company for £1 on companies house. Had to do it for my firm recently, simple process.

@sandwicheater – got a link? Could be very handy for us at the moment if you can.

    Cheer for the replies.
You can see the shareholders on the accounts docs at companies house.

    http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk//wcframe?name=accessCompanyInfo

    £1 a document.

But I think there is another database that has some extra info where the 2 websites I listed got the owner details from

It can all be done for free.

DueDil.com shows both directors and shareholders for free
