To me it demonstrates why Danny Boyle is the better film-maker. Trainspotting is equally repugnant yet blissfully entertaining whilst the editing drives it along. With filth as much as I wanted to like it, it just didn’t take me along for the ride. Felt like a series of vignettes rather than a whole – to the detriment of the characters.
Yeah filth probably would’ve been good if I hadn’t read the book, but it missed far too many good bits from the book and why change the race of the lad who was murdered?
