  • Filling Hilti fixing holes in an exterior wall after taking the fixings out.

I’ve just taken one of those wind out awnings off our back wall. It was a big old thing, and was mounted on two brackets, each held by four Hilti-type bolt fixings.

All bar one of the fixing ‘shells’ are still in the wall, the other one came out with the bracket. I had to soak them all in GT85 to get the bolts to release.

I assume I need to fill the holes to prevent water/damp ingress, so my questions are:
    – do I need to fill them?
    – do I just use silicon sealant?
    – do I need to get the remaining ‘shells’ out first?

    Ta.

That would leave eight white holes in the wall, silicone is a bit less obvious was my thinking

Point the holes? You can dye the mortar if you want a colour match.

What colour are you looking for? The external stuff I last used was fairly dark grey iirc
