It depends on how old they are. If they're super fresh they are harder to peel.

Put a bit of salt and vinegar in the water. Mrs PP says this helps, and should help them stop cracking when boiled. 🙂

i think perhaps of all the worlds ills, this is without doubt a serious issue and one that the UN should push up their agenda.. 😉

The way to solve this problem is to rinse them in plenty of cold water before attempting to peel them. This will shrink the egg and the shell will come away from the egg much easier.

If you put a small hole in the bottom of the egg, into where the air sack is, the egg won't crack and will peel easier as a bit of water gets between the skin bit and the egg.

    whats your timings?

I reckon 4' 25s then pour out hot water and replace with cold in the pan and leave for about 20 secs – perfection but depends on egg size.

    depends on egg size

do you adjust the timings based on egg weight or volume?

    Eggs ?, Hhmmmm.

    Boiled egg
    Fork
    Marmite

Use fork to mash marmite into the egg.

    Yum !

Bah. Just crack the damn things into a bowl and make a cheese omlette. Much better and less disgusting.

nope, fresher they are the harder to peel,

from my experience once the egg is about 6 days old it becomes easy to peel. since the fox massacred my chickens i no longer have this problem.

    Poach in clingfilm

I wouldn't do anything in clingfilm, or foil for that matter. Enough sh*t creeping into the food as it is.
