It looks like the home trails of the MNPR are being passed over from local authority (mis)management to the FC.

Will we get proper trail-head facilities? It doesn’t really matter to me as I only go in there at night, but it would be nice for the day visitors to get some facilities, even if it is just a loo and somewhere to get a brew.

    Ha your dreaming.

All the FC seem to have installed locally in way of trailhead facilities is the ability to pay money to park in the mud after you trashed your car getting to the car park.

Oh and some threatening signs +some CCTV.

The facilities are already there but the council don’t open them.

all depends on what FC could do with it, there’s a lot of pathways / PROW in place so would they be able to do any serious planting of commercial woods ?

lets face it, couldn’t be much worse than the current situation

    A bit of background…
The FC already have Hurst Wood, a commercial plantation developed quite recently, and it will be part of the larger park.
There are already two connected trail networks, both purpose built in the last 10 years. Waterdale (Blues) is FC and Philips (Reds) is the council.

The council have no money to maintain their trails, have fired off the Park Rangers and don’t open the facilities – toilets, classroom, the old Ranger/BCTV offices.

The park has a great playground that nobody uses because, putting it bluntly, there is nowhere to take a pee. Even the most basic of facilities would bring people in. It is probably the best park in the borough, but its location is quite remote.

The FC love to act like they own the forests they manage on our behalf.
