Very deliberately sets out to "beat" the previous record for a single take/tracking shot with no cuts whilst embarking on a comprehensive attempt to take the piss out of the Hollywood studio system. If you are in any doubt what he was up to then listen to the dialogue as the characters weave in and out of the shot.

The first cut of the movie is 8.03 in and comes as a jolt tp the senses.

I'm with jedi on this one; very humbling and emotive.

Saving Private Ryan? No way is it my favourite, but definitely the most emotive.
I usually sob at the end of films, not the beginning. Remember going mental with MrFC for not warning me!

I heard somewhere that the opening sequence was originally going to be the end credits.

The first 18 minutes of Snake Eyes is just one camera shot.
As an exercise in camera work, for both the camera man and the actors, it has to be seen to be appreciated.

Most Bond movies need to watched from the opening credits!
The last one was the most dynamic to my mind.
