Faulty valve on car tyre, replaced by garage -is the tyre safe?

I only noticed it at work when I arrived-almost flat after driving on country lanes. Totally flat by lunch time. Changed it for my spare -no point calling RAC.

Garage said it was a faulty valve and wacked on a new valve and chucked it back on my car.

Is it safe to use? they didn't examine it, just checked for punctures and blamed the valve.

I drive on 60 miles on country lanes and a bit worried I might have damaged the tyre?

Dam thing is only 4 days old!

I'm counting myself lucky it wasn't on a country lane bend at 60mph!

If the tyre has just been replaced it could have been a poor seal or the valve as they said. Nothing to worry about, they just take the tyre off the rim and replace the valve for a new one. My best guess would be they didn't seal the tyre properly and blamed it on the valve or the valve core worked loose. They rarely become faulty.

I think the guy just replaced the core by unscrewing the old core out.

I'm hoping I haven't damaged the tyre or sidewall etc as I didn't notice it was nearly flat till I parked after 55 miles of hard driving.

If it was damaged to the point of needing to be replaced i'm sure the garage would have been only to happy to point it out to you so they could sell you another one! I wouldn't worry they are very well built and a lot stronger than you think, they have had the tyre off so would have checked the inside of the tyre as well as the outside.

If you really are unsure about it you could use it as a spare or if it's on the front put it on the back as i'd rather have a rear blow out.

They didn't have the tyre off.

They just inflated my tyre, chucked it in a water tank and found the valve leaking.

They replaced the core inside the valve, not the valve.

I was just a bit worried I might have damaged the tyre case thats all.

Ended up taking it to another garage, examined my tyre inside out, cleaned my wheels -full of old tyre muck and new valves/balanced for a £10.
