Fantastic actor – everything from Shakespeare, Harry Potter, Alien, cartoon voiceovers, going back to before many of us were born… to last thing I saw him in was Last Panthers, really good TV drama, still brilliant. RIP

I think the last thing I saw him in was Doctor Who. Quite amusing, seeing Matt Smith acted off the screen by David Tennant, only for John Hurt to demolish the pair of them. I was looking forward to a nice long series of War Doctor audio books.

Well I’m very old. My first recollection of him is as Quentin Crisp in “The Naked Civil Servant”.

Anyone know the name of the space documentary series I think he narrated around 1999-2002?

Such a good sport of him to reprise his role from Alien in Spaceballs.
