Went to Lake Annecy this summer and it was great, drove out using the Newcastle Amsterdam ferry and took 4 bikes with us. Kids were 6 and 9so did lots of cycling on the cycle path to beaches lots of time in the lake and in the pool on the campsite. I got quite a few road rides in on the Cols by getting up early and had a couple of longer rides with the eldest child. Barely used the car when there apart from for a couple of day visits.

So for next year looking for suggestions for similar, lake or sea, nice campsite, easy getting about by bike, hopefully some good road (or MTB) riding, will be driving out again (Amsterdam ferry) and going late july.

The only different idea is to fly to Croatia but not got any further than that.
