We’re planning to go camping with my sisters and their families who have a bit of a criteria…

    – kids play area
    – not too exposed (frame tents)
    – shower/toilet block
    – near family friendly pub!
    – dog friendly
    – not too remote

    There will be 9 adults, 9 kids (age 2 – 14) and 2 dogs!

    Any suggestions???

Recommended twice in one day. I must be some kind of shill.

Only downside is you have to walk up a short hill to Stainforth to get to a pub. Although the cafe/tearoom apparently has a licence.

Kettlewell camping is also good – has a playground a very short walk away.

Don’t know if theres a playground but loads of space, right next to the river etc for paddling/fishing – ticks every other box = Masons near Appletreewick.

The quiet site, Ullswater, fits all but may be a little exposed if the weather is bad, but a lovely friendly site.

The Quiet Site is really nice, great views but like adscatt says it’s bit exposed if the weather isn’t great. Bar on site and they have a little indoor soft play thing for the kids.

Hardhurst Farm just outside Hope is a good site but there isn’t a play area IIRC, pub is a very short walk and cafe on site is good.

pubs easy walk, good cycling, good walking, pods for the hard of camping – a bit harder to get to than other parts of the Lakes but our kids and their mates loved it

Bays brown in chapel stile is my go to place.http://www.baysbrownfarmcampsite.co.uk/

there is no playground but it does have:

A smallish river to play in
loads of space to run about in
    a bridleway running through it

and its a shortish off road ride to the best cake in the lakes (Chesters)

I’ve stayed at Knights Stainforth and it is alright, but very noisy down by the river at weekends. It must be a local meeting point for the yoofs of settle and they bring music and food and drink. They made a great din until gone three in the morning and left a massive mess on the riverside.
So, this put us right off.

Beechcroft Farm between Buxton and Bakewell was nice. I think there is a pub near ish.
