  • Fabricator in Glasgow? – pannier rack

    Hi,
I need to get a pannier rack made for my recumbent bike, fairly bespoke design.

I need to find a fabricator, but most are uninterested in work this small.

    Any recommendations?

Ben at kinetics has offered but he brazes and not welds, it needs to be welded so that it can be surface treated (brazing would melt).

    Thanks

What kind or surface treating are you thinking of? Brass melts at about 900 degrees, that’s red hot on steel.

I can TIG, just not as good at it as I am at brazing 😉

    Thanks folks.

The surface treatment is nitrotec, which needs about 700deg.

Plus I’d prefer a full penetrative weld.
I can do the welding bit, but limited facilities for bending and shaping.

I’m making a mock up at the mo from blue peters best pipe cleaners, and try to source 10mm ish 18 swg T45.

If you can help Ben, that would be great.
Trout, if you could ask, or let me know a contact to ask that would be good too.
    Thanks again all.

I use 10x1mm seamless 316 stainless for racks – very tough, and bends nicely. Happy to help out with sourcing and bending that if you want.
