The wife obviously didnt eat her greens as a youngster and sorting out a small mtb frame has proved tricky. She has a Santa Cruz Julianna in a size 12 inch centre to top. Now she has ‘decided’ to wanting a a singlespeed for a second bike and finding a frame with the same sort of size is proving quite tricky. Anyone have any ideas on what to get. Women specific maybe beneficial as she has stumpy arms too.

My other half is a sawn off. She has a 14″ 456 and loads of stand over but are quite long. Also has a 14″ Saracen Zen and they are small. Also has a Five Diva and they are tiny.

How tall is she?

I’d almost suggest steering away from on one if she’s short in the arms! Although I do love my 14″ scandal!

Dr Jekyll alu frame – you can see the size against the larger 20″ next to it. My eldest was using it so had a long seatpost in, but its my youngest’s bike.

Morning all, the wife is 5 ft 1 in slippers. We have a Merlin 14 inch frame coverted to singlespeed, which she has used for a few years to work, but has always been too big for her and heavy, so she wants a lighter singlespeed to go to her new job she has started recently along the towpaths and canals , which will be a 10 mile trip. I did look at your bike piccie the other day, beckykirk, but wondered about top tube length. Lets put it this way, with her 12 inch Julianna on the turbo trainer, she cant get her leg over it to get on.

Mrs O is about 5′ 2″ and also has a Juliana.

Mrs NBT had a small Juliana for years. She also rides a small inbred. If you want a small, light bike then the scandal has to be on you shortlist – same geometry as the inbred but lighter.

It comes in a snazy limited paint job (as per the link) and is women’s specific. With a TT of 525cm it is definitely for the shorty or stumpy-armed! 😉

If you want the complete bike, I’m selling it for £600. It’s a heavily upgraded version of what’s in the above link though, it has DT Swiss forks, XTR rear/XT cranks and shifters, Ritchey seatpost and carbon handlebars, Formula Oro brakes and Hope hubs with Mavic rims. The whole thing weighs less that 24lbs. If you just want the frame and some bits, make me an offer.
