Looking at getting a new helmet light and like the look of the Joystick as I don’t like cables hanging down my back.

The mk8 can be had for £73, the mk9 for just over £100. I’ve read that the 9 is less spotty and therefore not as good on the lid even though it’s nearly twice as powerful.

So, anyone had both and care to give an opinion? Or suggest an alternative.

I have a 9, which replaced a 7. I use it on lid with a Maxx D on bars. It is more of a flood than a spot and initially I didn’t like it. After a few rides I got used to the feeling of lots of flood light 😀 . not better, but brighter and different IMO.

Given current discounts, I’d expect the 10 will be out in a few months….

    I’ve got a Mk9 Joystick, a mk6 Diablo too.

I’m disappointed with the Joystick, its far too floody as a helmet mount, my bar light washes it out, and when you look in the distance there’s not enough throw.

The Diablo is far better, as its a bit more spotty.

The Joystick is used everyday in the winter for dog walking, and is ace for that. But a poor helmet light if you ride mtb with a good bar light.

    Cheers chaps, bit conflicting 😀

Might see if I can stretch to a mk2 Axis, but that’s about £140!

Axis would have been a better choice as its a little bit more spotty.

Evans has reduced the Diablo to £140, like the axis it has the tap to change setting feature which is nice.
