I have a great garlic crusher thats like a ridged small rolling pin. It is made of some magic metal that when you run it under cold water and rub your hands over it it removes the smell of garlic. Is it magic? It really works but it just looks like a big chunk of stainless steel. I just can’t see how a chunk of metal can remove the smell of garlic. Its not abrqsive and no detergent is involved.

Help a puzzled old man please or I shall have to burn myself as a witch 🙂

I bought a garlic crusher and it was crap so I’ve gone back to slicing or crushing with the flat blade.

This is indeed some kind of voodoo.

Also why would you want to remove the smell, it’s amazing.

Roughly, as I recall, and getting vaguer as we go on, garlic has sulfer in it which makes the smell, garlic + water = sulfuric acid, sulfuric acid + stainless steel equals something where the steel binds with the acid.

So if your sink is stainless steel you can just rub your hands on it!
