Sorry my search-fu has deserted me. Singletrack ran a 3 part series on essential kit to have in something like a “small pack”, a “day pack” and the boot of the car. Can anyone point me at the issues in question? Many thanks

Also, to turn this into more of a conversation, any top tips on stuff that’s easily forgotten yet incredibly handy?

Goody.. We haven’t had a pack contents thread for a while.
Whistle, inner tube, super glue, multi tool, levers, mini pump, phone, survival blanket, buff, haribo, few gels, malt loaf, zip ties, small amount of gorilla tape,

Travel toolbox in the car which has most bike specific tools to fix most problems. Hayes brake caliper alignment tool and chain pliers make life easier.

Chain joining link and maybe some spare links. Almost had a 3hr round trip ride spoiled a couple of weeks ago when my chain snapped. (Joining link failed) Luckily I managed to join it using the old fashioned method but being 10 speed it shouldn’t have worked……

    Tube
Multi tool that has a chain tool
    Glueless patches
    Tyre levers
    Pump
    Spare mech hanger

All stowed in a saddle bag, no back pack if I can possibly avoid it.
