  • Anyone going down this year?

I went down for an afternoon last year – wouldn’t find it entertaining enough for a whole weekend, but good fun nonetheless – and it’s local to me.

Anyone doing the ride (I’m not btw)?

A few pics I took last year

When’s it on and where’s best to park? I.e walk in avoid crowds

Not this weekend, but the following. Hard to say where’s best to park, as Bakewell is limited for on-street and the main car parks are right in the middle of town. Maybe up towards Lady Manners school on the Monyash road? I’ll cycle or bus it

Yeah I’ve bought tickets for the weekend. I’m not really sure what to expect – hopefully a weekend of poking around interesting bike stuff. Hipster quotient looks quite high…!

Clashes with a whole heap of family events this year, which is a shame. I marshalled at High Peak Junction on the Sunday last year, was a fantastic thing to be part of.

How off road is the off road route? I’m not going, but am taking some friends around the white peak and would like to avoid any clashes for everyone’s benefit.

the only bike i have that qualifies, currently resides in this naked state, at this rate it will be three years before I go and do it! looks fun, but taking part would be more fun I feel.

Going to pop over on the Saturday with the family, we went for the day last year and it has to be said the family isn’t exactly chopping at the bit……but it’s my birthday!!

I’m pretty sure that somewhere in my life a tea is missing.

Having seen the traffic around Bakewell a couple of weeks ago on the Bank Holiday weekend I think I’d try and park a fair distance away from there and ride to Bakewell.
It was absolute chaos on the BH and I can’t imagine it’ll be much better when Eroica Britannia is on.

We went on Sunday last year and had no problem parking at the venue, LOADS of people were circling the town hunting for free parking and having to fight with everyday tourists for it.

We’ll be doing the same this year.

I stole it and then chucked it in a thread title in a poor attempt to hide the evidence…. 😉
