Curious about this as we are moving to Germany soon, has anyone got this mapping and used it ?

I use a Garmin GPS (not an edge though) and only use open source maps based on http://www.openstreetmap.org/.

I use the Dutch and Belgian maps a lot, but have used Luxemburg, France, Austria, Italy and Switzerland without any problems.

I don’t have all the link available now but if you have a google it should show up some download sites for pre-prepared maps, the one I use the most is; https://sites.google.com/site/openfietsmap/

Edit: Found another link, http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM_Map_On_Garmin/Download has links to map downloads for loads of different countries.

Thanks for that, saved to favorites.

I just looked at the German ebay and there are loads of options on sale for about €25 so I think I’m sorted….

Idea of openstreet maps is you dont pay, but if you want to send me a micro sd card and 15 euros I’ll download them for free and send it back 🙂
BTW I’ve asked the question a while ago and this was the best answer

    Hi Rickmeister,

Where are you moving to in Germany? I am near the German/Dutch border but am moving to Bielefeld in the summer.

I bought the Garmin Topo map Mirco SD card that has Germany and Austria on it and it seems to work pretty well. The maps are different to OS maps and take a bit of getting used to but are okay. If you want Italy maps you will have to buy a seperate card I suspect.

I bought mine from German ebay, paid will Paypal and they arrived pretty quickly.

    Good luck with the move
