They then collect it and lodge a complaint with eBay that they haven’t received the item. Ebay ask for proof of postage, which you do t have, then refund the buyer. Not common but it can happen.
Does this happen, even if you put ‘item for collection only’ on the auction?
How can you provide proof of postage for an item that you have listed as collection only? Bit worrying if they’d still side with a scam buyer in this instance.
I’ve sold a few items as collection only on eBay in the last few months – I think they have all been paid in advance by Paypal.
Once the deal has been done and payment made, I have then sent my address to the buyer through ebay and done all of the arranging of the collection time/date through ebay as well.
I have debated taking a few pics of the item being loaded into the vehicle along with the person who came to collect, but thought that perhaps a step too far.
I wonder what the best steps are to avoid getting scammed in this way?
