Doing a few days up by the wall soon with some history buff mates. Biking up and down the wall to visit the various sites and museums. Staying near the Military road north of Haltwhistle, east of Greenhead. Any gems to aim for or places to avoid? Cheers.

The grub in the pub at Greenhead is plain but good. Avoid Haltwhistle in the evening. The Twice Brewed and the Milecastle up on the military road (alongside the wall) have good food. The Samson in Gilsland’s supposed to be good, too.

Been a few years since I did the wall but the Twice Brewed was plain classic pub grub but very good. Also handy for some of the main Wall stuff like Vindolanda, Housesteads and Sycamore Gap. The pub at Greenhead wasn’t quite as good but made up in quantity what lacked in quality. Was walking the Wall so quantity worked.
