Just back from 5 days riding in the Eastern Pyrenees in the Vallespir region. We were based in the lovely old town of Ceret, riding locally in these hills and further away including a great route down to the beach for beer 🙂 I’ve ridden in this area before, but we had guiding from http://bikevallespir.com (run by friends of mine) and they know all the good stuff.

Rocky, steep, committed, dusty and fast best describes the trials but there’s something for everyone here, some flowing wooded singletrack and as much steppy, tech bedrock. And, of course, wine, cheese and lots of beer 🙂

I prefer this to the area around Morzine. You need to earn your descents (although BV will sort out uplifts if you want), but it’s so stunningly beautiful and remote you just keep coming back for more. It helps that the sun shines almost all of the time and the bikes are covered in dust.

    I’ll certainly be going back!

Nice, thanks for sharing. Many moons ago I send two very nice months around Cucugnan about 45 mins from Perpignan.

It’s a lovely area. Really feels very unspoilt. Everything still closes on a Monday 😉 Food was superb (if expensive), came back heavier I think. Roquefort is 45 miles away, I reckon after my dinners, they’d have to fly in extra supplies! Tough riding as well, pretty unrelenting – properly knackered after every day. Which is as it should be.

Looking outside now to grey skies and cold winds, I wonder when the next flight back is!

Looks great and hope to be exploring there soon. Jambalaya – any memories of trails around Cucugnan? Would be awesome as hope to borrow a mates house in the village. Was thinking about taking a road bike but if the trails are there………
