So, 5 days at the outlaws between Christmas and new year…..

They are in Heathfield, so wondering about taking bikes and riding down to the sea front at Eastbourne with my 10 year old, and getting MrsMC to take him home in the car. He probably wouldn’t manage the ride back as well.

Not clear how easy it is to get from the Cuckoo Trail to the seafront, especially with a not very road confident 10 year old. Any tips or pointers?

There’s a route off the trail from polegate to eastbourne via hampden park, all signposted, there’s afew busy roads to cross, all pretty flat. You could get the train to eb from polegate, he”ll manage both ways then.

If you go as Rewski suggests its v flat.
You can climb up from Polegate and come along the top of the downs towards Beachy Head and descend to Meads village and along the seafront.
Alternatively there is woodland singletrack lower down that can thread its way into town. Head from Polegate to Willingdon then Ratton and hug golf courses and council estates until you cross the A259 and then follow that down into town via the Lamb for a pint of Harveys.
