    I had a text yesterday:
URGENT : DX-DELIVERY is holding your parcel. Please visit http://www.dx-delivery.co.uk and enter tracking no 47835380174

As it’s the season for receiving unexpected deliveries I followed the link. It’s an absolutely spot on replica of the DX site. Everything very plausible and as it’s a heavy parcel from overseas, with the label partly missing it seems quite reasonable to pay the £50 excess freight and import charges.

    Hang on a minute!

Googling (or Binging) DX you get a link to their real site. What’s at the top of the page? A warning that scammers have set up a false site and saying DON’T PAY THE £50.

It’s a very good scam. I almost felt like sending them a 50p donation for their efforts.

Did it have https in the web address ? That’s usually a giveaway for shonky sites.m

The link is above. It looks perfect. I always spot shonky sites and messages because they have a stray m at the end.

    That’s pretty convincing.

    One good check is this,

    https://who.is/whois/dx-delivery.co.uk

    Relevant dates:
    Registered on: 19-Dec-2015
    Expiry date: 19-Dec-2016

… the site’s less than a week old.

    DX’s warning:

    https://www.dxdelivery.com/service-update/alerts/dx-fraud/

    WARNING FRAUDULENT SCAM

Fraudulent text messages have been sent by someone trying to defraud people by asking them to visit dx-delivery.co.uk to make a payment of £50 for redelivery of a parcel. DO NOT ACTION THIS MESSAGE.

This has nothing to do with DX and we are doing all we can to close this site down urgently and are working with the authorities to resolve this situation. If you have received this text message please report this incident to the police and/or http://www.actionfraud.co.uk

Please provide your details to ‘social@thedx.co.uk’ placing ‘Text Fraud’ in the subject line as we are collating a list of all people contacted.

    Many thanks

    Question is of course,

Were you expecting a heavy DX delivery from overseas? If not then that’s a red flag straight away; if you were then has DX or one of its customers had their database compromised?
