Made of cheese, or cassette not done up tight enough?

    Probably done under 1000kms.

    Cheap cassette maybe

Funnily enough, I am after one of these

SLX or XT cassette, came with the bike…

Might go back to Canyon and try to blame them 🙂

That’s completely normal, wouldn’t bother me, and nowhere near as bad as my first hope pro 2 alu freehub was the first time I stripped the cassette off. Always bought steel ones after that mind.

Took me 30 minutes to get the cassette off.

I’ll just file down the burrs and stick it back on then…

Always used to mash alu freehubs (I’m a rather hefty bugger) then I got the chance to talk to someone at DT and immediately tried to skewer him about this issue.

His response was to ask what torque I’d done my lockring up to, ‘errrr tight’ was my response.

After pretty much being being told to go away and think about what I’d done I replaced my mangled freehub body and started torqing my cassette up to 40nm as stated on the lockring and, low and behold. No more stuck cassettes.

That freehub is going strong 2 years later, I had the cassette off a few weeks ago and it looked newer then the previous one did after a few rides.

If you get the choice when choosing as wheel build go for steel freehubs, you don’t get any of this nonsense and the weight penalty is tiny.
