  • DT Swiss FR1950 / YT2020 Wheelset – conversion kit for rear axle spacing?

I have the above wheelset in the shed after recently buying a Tues but swopping the stock wheels for some Deemax.

I am told that the YT2020’s are rebadged FR1950’s.

They look like a pretty decent wheelset so I was hoping to use them on a (yet to be decided) future build. The problem being that they are 150mm spacing on the rear. My next bike won’t be a DH bike (most likely it will be a new hardtail, BTR Ranger would be top of the wishlist………) so the spacing would be wrong.

Is it possible to buy a conversion kit to 142mm or 135mm spacing?

Is it worth the hassle or do I just flog them and bury the cash in the garden until it’s new bike time?

150mm won’t convert – it’s a wider hub shell, not just end caps.

Flog or set them up with mud tyres for convenience.

Yep – appreciate that the wider shell is the problem but wondered whether a conversion kit could be bought that included the narrower shell.

Having thought about it though I’m thinking that as the wheel would need to be rebuilt it’s probably not going to be worth the hassle…….

IMO the deemax is a downgrade.
Narrower rim, mavic free hub, proprietary spokes.
The 1950 is an excellent, light and bombproof wheelset.
