Are there any differences between these two spokes apart from weight and price? I have a set of XMC 1200 wheels and want to buy some spare spokes before going to the Alps. They use Aerolite one side and Aero Comp the other but only differ by 1mm. Can I just buy one set of spares?

    Nice hoops!

The Aerolites are more heavily butted and thinner in the centre section, they’re still pretty tough for a super light spoke but DT tend to use Aero Comps on the drive or disc brake side of their top-end wheels as they apparently offer better torque transfer.

If you’re not overly fussed about aesthetics then any straight pull spoke will work, Comps etc so it’s pretty easy to track down spares now straight pull is getting more common.

Just be sure to get ones with 2mm threads so they’ll fit your nipples. I think all the DT straight pulls are 2mm but others may not be.
