Does anybody know of a product for drying out your wet shoes? Got em soaked monday and they’re still like a bucket of water, I know newspaper trick is supposed to work but as im out 3/4 times a week I cant afford to be buying that many newspapers!!
or do people just stick em back on your wet cold and wet?!
I used to use newspapers but have bought some absorba ball things from Cotswold, which I’ve been using recently in this long hot dry summer we’ve been experiencing. They’re not quite as effective as newspaper, but less hassle and no scrunched up soggy newspaper to throw out.
Two sheets of newspaper per shoe, leave overnight in the airing cupboard. This method works if you buy only one paper a week and like a hot shower in the morning.
Get non-waterproof open design shoes, such as Perl Izumi X Alp. The open design means they dry very quickly. When it is really wet, trying to keep shoes dry is a joke, even the most waterproof will get sodden. Better to have fast drying ones and wear waterproof socks.
They’re the marzocchi 5:10s, I did wonder if the newer designed ones had less padding therefore less absorbent.
No airing cupboard, just a boiler on the wall in kitchen so nowhere warm to keep them at all, it’s too warn to wear a raincoat never mind put the heating on! I was also under impression with the newspaper trick you had to remove one sodden lot and replace with more to make it effective and tbh I haven’t got the time or inclination to check the shoes every five mins and rotate newspapers lol. I’ll check out the products and see what I think…. Bloody weather!!
Would a couple of muslin bags filled with cat litter extract the moisture , ready for puns on taking the piss ! Last winter LBS had Shimano winter boots on a really good offer, didn’t need ’em but thought best buy an’ all that. Never been worn but seriously thinking of digging them out from recesses of under stair cupboard, worst drought we’ve ever known round here.
