Is there some fancy pants why of cleaning a chain with parafin, really well to remove all grease, even the grease you want in the rollers and then warming up some wax, dipping chain in, letting wax set and then wipe clean?

My usual motor oil/chainsaw oil needs a clean every other ride and turns everything black.

I recognise I am a bit of a numpty at this.

Don’t remove the lube in the chain to start with?
    I just use R&R blue lube http://www.rocklube.com/
Works fine, never had any need to go through all the faff of paraffin etc.

Bike dry chain lube on clean chain, leave for a few hours go ride after wiping off excess. Repeat. Stays pretty clean, motor oil chain saw oil is the wrong oil, too heavy and makes a mess.

I use putoline chain wax in the winter which you melt and dip is he chain in. Summer I use squirt. Tried lots of different routines but this is my favourite so far.

Rock n roll +1. Not washed off as easy as squirt, and doesn’t attract all the detritus like a wet lube does. Best of both worlds.

Im a fan of Squirt here.

Ive never degreased it properly, really. Once a month ill use foaming chain cleaner with warm water, thats about it.

just reapply, stays nice and clean.
