Why do I get excruciating toothache whenever my sinuses play up?

Since this winter I’ve has cold after cold after cold, and I got diagnosed with sinusitis a couple of months ago. Now, whenever I get a sniffle or snotty nose I get the worst toothache ever, which then causes the most incredible headaches. I know sinusitis and toothache are connected but how? And what can I do to stop the pain?

Toothroots can grow into sinus cavity.

IIRC, a bunged-up sinus puts pressure on a nerve, this registers as toothache.
