I’m replacing the drive chain of my hardtail. It’s completely worn out as it’s not been replaced in 5 years. The build was a bit of a bodge job from the original builders and it’s got a deore 9 speed triple crankset that was setup with a double slx front derailleur.
I have bought a 10 speed 38 tooth chainring, as I wanted to go to 38 tooth and was confident a 10 speed chainring would work with a 9 speed setup.
My issue is it’s got a large drop pin on it that I didn’t realise was there from the description online. It will hang over the inner cog a little. Is that going to be an issue or will it just slip past the pin when the crank is rotated?
If it’s an issue should I just hacksaw it off?
