    Think I understand the basics ie transfer bodyweight back, push bike out in front of you, pivot, don’t pull up etc. This works for me if i’m going quick enough.

    What about if you are going slow? I’ve seen people land on both wheels and appear to push the bike out in front of them by pedalling. Others seem to squat their rear suspension down just as they take off?

    Pedal assisted drop off’s is a different technique to trail drop offs, and used a lot by trials riders and yes, a different technique. Pushing on the pedals, squshing and then pulling the suspension all at the same time. Personally, tend to use as a “get out of jail” card when I’ve got myself into a spot of bother… 😯
