I’ve just ordered a SRAM X0 ‘3×9’ left hand Grip Shift (apparently non-indexed). While I was at it I bought an Ultegra 10-speed double front mech. I couldn’t really work out what I needed, but at the time it seemed a good match!

I’m running a road triple chainset, but with only outer and middle chain-rings. The chain-rings are Rotor QXL (very oval) 53/41. I’m also using a 9-speed chain (9-speed cassette).

Is there any difference in how far a double/triple mech will swing? I’m worried if my outer ring is sitting further away from the frame than a double mech is designed for, or is the outer chainline the same for road triples and doubles?
