Shimano. Always seem the most secure to me. If you shop around you get them with a free Deore hub

Personally I would avoid hope. My missus had a pair that constantly loosened which was not cool. Ended up throwing them away rather than selling on.

    Salsa – pretty, secure, expensive
Shimano – not so pretty, very secure, cheaper
Hope – mid pretty, mid secure, mid price

    IMHO of course

I’d go with Tune. They’re pricey but light, beautiful and very strong. Would look great on that frame 🙂

Shimano ones as they have the best and most secure cam action, period. Another other QR is asking for possible trouble – especially on the fork.

Otherwise DT Swiss RWS, although they are not so quick release…

My rear Hope skewer has been rock solid.

Shimano if you want a QR.

I’ve swapped all my bikes to Halo Hex skewers though, lighter and cheaper and I’ve never had one come loose.

Shimano XT are best performance and don’t cost a great deal. Dull boring black or dull boring silver only though.

to add some balance, i have hope ones, they have never came loose.
i also have some dinky superstar ones, they have never came loose, and they look quite nice too.
ive used shimano in the past, they never came loose.
used specialized, they never came loose.
used some that came on a GT i once had, they were shite.

Shimano every time – they work really well, and last and last and last.

While I agree that Shimano is without doubt the safest bet, I’ve been running USE Spin Stix on my GT for a few years now and think they’re brilliant.

They may not be the quickest quick release but he certainly do up tight if you need to.

Chromag are lovely but expensive. Otherwise you really can’t go wrong with Shimano.

never had a single problem with hope skewers. have been using them for about 15 years in various types and on various bikes.

that said, ive always had similar experience with shimano skewers.

Big vote for Salsa Fliplocks. I was gutted to recently find out that they no longer do the Rasta ones. In a moment of improvisation, I bought a green set, a mate bought a red set and we are hoping to cannabalize an old gold set to make our own Rastas!

Just so pretty, easy on the hand and secure. What more do you need??

To counter everyone saying they have had no problems with Hope skewers, my front one was always coming loose, so now that one is a 9mm thru axle, rws as it does up much tighter than the superstar one.

The rear hope has been ok.
