LittleMissMC seems to be on the cusp of growing out of her 24″ Frog, so I’m going to be needing a 26″ wheeled one next. She is just under 5′ tall, so looking at XS adults frames or the kids specific 26″ ones.

Thinking she might benefit from front suspension as she’s a solid little lass, though only tends to ride blue routes, so rigid still an option. V brakes seem to stop her adequately at the moment, so doesn’t have to be disc.

We would try her on her Mum’s Kauri, but the brakes are reversed and I suspect that would cause some tears on all sides. Also think I’d immediately be wanting a 30 tooth chainring on it.

Happy to look second hand, thinking budget £400ish. Seem to be a lot of XS Treks on ebay but not sure how weighty they would be.

    What does the panel suggest

XS 26″ Cotics are pretty short, if that helps at all.

2nd hand Islabike Beinn 26 + an 80mm fork? I picked up a Beinn for £225 last week, so should be under budget, even with a fork. albeit v-brake only.

i picked up a cheap, about 40-60quid i think, identiti dr jeckyl frame for my boy when he was ready to move on from 24″. i just built it up from the parts on my winter bike. it worked well.

    Some ideas there thanks.

Her brother would be jealous if she got an xs Cotic. He’d be the poor relation on his Inbred

If you have the time building up a tiny MTB works really well, I reckon £300 should do it if you’re watching the forums like a hawk.

Ref your actual question. I saw an XS Specialised Stumpjumper hardtail frame a while back that looked perfect for that sort of build?

Building a frame up is also an option if the right frame turned up to get us going. All my spare bits went on her brother’s Inbred last Christmas, and she’d want something better knowing her.

I built up a small frame stumpjumper, my 9yr old son has recently started using it. Came with hope hubs / brakes / BB etc.

I took off all the tired xtr gears though and converted it to a 1 x 10 drive train, same as on the carrera blast he was using.

I bought my son an Orbea MX26 team, it’s a really nice frame, the spec is nothing special but it’s a nice bike, weighs about 27lbs, the wheels are a bit heavy. IMO it was better than the equivalent Spesh trek giant Scott for the money.
