We use cottages 4 you and find ’em ok. Had a good break at the Red House at Staithes, not sure if that one allows dogs as we were ‘in between’ at the time.

We went up to Warkworth in Northumberland at half term, and booked thru Coquet Cottages. Dogs stay for free (or at least they did in the cottage we stayed in). 5 minutes drive to the local beach. Cottage much better standard than the norm. And about 5 pubs in the village, as well as a castle. Kids and dogs were very happy.

We stayed at one in Pembrokeshire, near Newgale.

We’ve been staying here for the last few years with our pooch.

Can’t rate it highly enough, and Joan, the owner, is just fantastic too… we always get a cake for us, and some treats for the dog every time we stay.

While it’s not right on the coast, the coast is only a few miles away, and in the meantime you have a fantastic view down over Buttermere instead, plus Whinlatter is only a few mins away in the car… and the Kirkstile Inn is just around the corner.

How old are kids / would they stay in bunks? We stayed at Ford cottage just outside bath last summer. Tons of trails in the area, so I’m told, and loads of good countryside, places to visit, etc.

We stayed in a forestholidays cabin in the Forest of Dean with the dog last December and it was lovely and quiet tucked away in the woods.

Welcome cottages has a search function for dogs.

Northumberland for all year round dog friendly very long sandy beaches, dog friendly pubs for meals, Keilder and Glentress etc

We’ve stayed at both Sherwood and Keldy (near Dalby) and the dogs loved it!

Another good one for Dalby Hungate Cottages – various sizes of cottage available, with secure bike store too. Oh yes, and dog friendly!

If Wales is an option, I can recommend Quality Cottages – beautiful properties in beautiful locations – we’ve stayed in several different ones now with dogs and never once been disappointed.

Had a lovely long weekend here with the wife and dog when she was a pup. Not near the coast, and not a huge place, but in one of the best parts of the Dales. Plenty of things to do around and about, large utility room for wet dog and muddy bike storage, great trails from the doorstep and the legendary The New Inn a short walk down the road at Appletreewick. Looks like it’s booked up for most of this year, but definitely one worth considering for the future. Also, little mice carved into the woodwork around the fireplace! Nearly made me cry tears of joy that there are still craftspeople out there.

Big place literally across the road from the beach. Various Stanes within touching distance (Dalbeattie a couple of miles up the road). Large garden and stream (handy for dog cleaning) out the back and a secure shed, built under part of the house, for bike storage. Rockcliffe and Kippford just up the road. We took our daughter here when she was six months old and had as damn near a perfect time as you could wish for. Really happy memories of our stay there, we’ll definitely return.

There’s the Bell Ringer’s Cottage in Llandegla – not near the sea, but near Llandegla trail centre and some nice non-trail centrey stuff too. Absolutely lovely cottage, and very dog friendly – the welcome hamper even had doggie treats in. The owner’s husband is a mountain biker and happy to provide information on the non-trail centrey routes.

There’s only two bedrooms though, so your kids would have to be young enough to not mind sharing.
