I want to create a widget on a website with an interactive video – so if you click on a link it will skip to a specific frame, and possibly show overlays and such too.

In the olden days I’d have done this with Flash, but a fair proportion of the site’s audience will be iPad based, so that’s not ideal. Are there any similar packages that will do the job?

(I’m not really a web type, so please be gentle!)

JavaScript / JQuery but, honestly, isn’t there another way of doing what you want? Instead of a specific frame, a different video

Possibly! But even skipping to different videos I’m not sure how I’d do it without Flash.

I imagine it can be done in HTML5… But I’m not clever enough in the coding. Just looking at Adobe Edge…

html5 will do it, Coursera uses it extensively with in-video quizzes.
