  • Does anyone stock a 7mm headset spacer??

Being a bit ‘aiming for perfection here’, I acknowledge, but I’m after a 7mm headset/stem spacer, and can’t find one anywhere!!!
    Crc, eBay, etc etc

Does anyone know which direction to point my money at at all??

    Ta!

(In a typical stw fashion, awaits this thread to contain comments telling me “not to look for what I’m looking for”, alternatively the thread being closed after a heated discussion about racism and the rights and wrongs of child pornography!!!) 😉

I’ve never seen one, you may have to cut down a 10mm instead, carbon ones with a fine hacksaw blade cut neatly..

    <sigh> you never stated 1 1/8″ or 1.5″ 🙄

Typical unclear post by STW poster who asks for help but doesn’t give the full information reqiuired. 😉

A 10mm one, then a trip to a hobby shop or a small engineering place to have it whittled down on a lathe?

High On Bikes have this lot on eBay that includes a 7mm, but if you really really really only want the 7mm just give em a call and ask nicely.

Cheers thepurist, have contacted them about individual spacers!

Filing that, I’ll just have to clamp the stem down using a 5mm spacer on top, then remove it when he stem is tight.

    No one has asked…why?

A customer in my last lbs job wanted 1mm spacers so he could get his TT stem position “just right”. Yup, he was and is a **** 😀

Worked in a ski hire shop once, had a customer bring skis back “because they wouldn’t run parallell”.

1mm is hardly “perfect” I use two 0.2mm spacers and no top/dust cap under the top crown on my DH bike to achieve near perfect clearance to run the fork as raked out as possible without resorting to a drop crown (which would cause all sorts of other “issues”)
My bar height is always adjusted to within +-1mm, why wouldn’t you?

because the grips and palms of my gloves probably have more than 1mm ‘give’ between them.

Tsk. You need some better gloves.

Waswas – you’ve clearly never seen my “grips” or “gloves” 😆

Don’t want any spaces above the stem, and essentially the steerer needs another 2mm off it, which I’m not going to achieve…..
Don’t want to run a 10mm spacer below as that will be a few mm too little steerer clamped in the stem……

That may look tidier but ahead stems clamp your steerer more securely with a spacer above.
