There are blues in the OAB household today – school tomorrow.
The summer has been kind – we did a few bits and bobs. A *proper* summer. What have your lot been upto, and who is back already / back tomorrow?
    Some of this:

Ours are back tomorrow – thank god!
    Who’s idea was 7.5 weeks 😈

Kids have done loads with 2 weeks in Portugal surfing, dolphin watching, fishing and watching World Cup football.
Then another 2 weeks in the Cairngorms kayaking, walking and biking.

I’m glad they are going back tomorrow though – working from home can be a double edged sword!

    Sigh.

My boys had water fights, camped in the back garden, slept out on the trampoline, played in the street, played in the sea, climbed trees, went biking, visited museums, went to the Commonwealth Games, read lots of books, built Lego, and had all sorts of fun.

Tonight there will be homework and “after school activities”.

    Sigh.

What schools start mid-August? Some sort of thing to help parents get cheaper holidays by starting earlier?

At least yours look quite happy about it in their photo Crispin. Edinburgh schools went back last Wednesday and the Moo hasn’t stopped grumbling about it since – like P1 and P2, the start of every P3 day looks set to follow the same old argument “do I have to go to school, I don’t want to go to school”. Sheesh.

Still, only 128 sleep to Christmas

Schools in Scotland. Holidays are different up here and always have been.

Why is there a ‘share’ button and no ‘like’ button?

Enlightened ones, with a proper education system… 😉

Many a cheap holiday cottage to be had at the start of September up that way. Plus the locals aren’t clogging up all the family attractions 😉

Still grockle season for another two weeks down here in the west country. Roll on September, beaches empty, campsites empty, water is still warm and surf always picks up. Best time of the year…
