    Duty calculator says 20% vat + duty fees.Is this right as i thought it was just on new gear.

    3.2 Is duty charged on used goods?

    Used goods are still liable to the same duty and VAT charges as if they were new. However, this may vary depending on their age and condition.

    Marking the value as lower than £50 on the customs declaration would eliminate the possibility of paying duty. T’is fraud if incorrect though.

    Secondhand goods in UK aren’t subject to VAT because they have already paid it. Non-EU goods are subject to VAT at point of entry to EU.

    Don’t forget import duty is also charged on the shipping cost.
