    The daily canal Tour Divide commuting for 6 months twice daily for 90km round trips made me appreciate how lucky we are to be able to use them to ride on. We don’t have the same access in Ireland – or didn’t before I left – and being able to ride in and out of work off road everyday is quite welcome.

    Interesting that one of the the only issues I’ve had on the canal was actually with a member of the Canal and River Trust – one in particular who tried to lecture me on my rights of access while standing beside a national cycle route sign (Route 66) which I happily pointed out to him.

    The other involved being assaulted by a scrote on a moto in Rochadale. But that is somewhat unlucky.
