  • Do I need to clean a new frame before invisiframe?

The invisiframe website recommends using this tar remover:

    Autoglym tar remover

But do I need to do that for a new frame? I guess there could be adhesive from the decals on it..

I’d just make sure it had a good wash / clean before applying the stuff.
The tar remover is more for getting old adhesive residue off first.

Ah I see, this frame is fresh out of the box so tend to agree and will wipe it over with the watter+diluted shampoo it suggests using to fit them with prior to fitting.

I’d say you really just want to de-grease it, get rid of any residue from handling etc

I’d use an ipa or some other sort of degreaser – paw prints etc.. all leave an oily residue.

handle the frame carefully by areas you’re not going to put the invisframe.

Or just ride it and not worry about the odd scratch.

Invisframe type stuff i’ve seen looks ok to begin with but isn’t that invisi and after a few peak district grot rides, the edges peel and you get permanent grot under, it’s very much not invisi.

then you scratch where you’ve not protected. each to their own though.

Like above Alcohol IPA is what you need to remove all grease whilst leaving no oils behind.

Do you need to strip components to fit the kits does anyone know?

Having now fitted the kit I would say it is loads easier, and you will make a much better job of it, with the components stripped.
